Welcome to Washington Township!

We hope you find Washington Township to be one of the friendliest and safest places in which to live. Feel free to take advantage of the helpful tips for new residents below:

  • Garbage/waste shall be stored in cans with lids and shall not be placed or located in the front yard.
  • The township does not provide refuse pick-up. Residents are responsible for contracting with a refuse collection service of their choice.
  • Watercraft, recreational vehicles, and utility equipment may not be parked or stored in front of your home. The complete Washington Township Zoning Resolution is available on the Township’s website.

Other “services” provided by Township fire, police, and roads personnel include:

  • The famous “Shoreland/Point Place Fireworks” in late June. Donations received by Shoreland Firefighters Association, from businesses and residents, help offset the cost of the fireworks.
  • Fall leaf pick-up.
  • Seasonal street sweeping.
  • Home safety-checks when you’re on vacation.
  • Drug Take-Back events at the Fire Station.
  • Halloween Fire and Police patrol, candy distribution, and candy safety-check.
  • Annual Feather Party (in November) at the Fire Station.
  • The “Polar Express,” in December, takes Santa to visit township and surrounding neighborhoods on the elaborately decorated fire engine.
