Washington Township was organized in 1840, and is one of eleven townships in Lucas County, Ohio. Even though your mailing address is “Toledo, Ohio,” Washington Township is governed by three Trustees, and has its own Fire, Police, Park, Roads, and Zoning Departments.

The 2020 census reported 3,085 people living in the township. The total 6.6 square miles of the township consists of 5.7 square miles of water and .9 square mile of land.
