Thomas Yunker

Assistant Chief Thomas Yunker was appointed to the Washington Township Fire & Rescue Department on March 17, 2010. He was promoted to Captain on January 16, 2014, and to Assistant Chief on March 10, 2020. Assistant Chief Yunker is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the fire department. He oversees Fire Prevention/Suppression, Special Operations and Emergency Preparedness. He is the Chief of Training and the Department’s Safety Officer. He has completed numerous courses at the Ohio Fire Academy, Bowling Green State Fire School, Owens Community College, and Four County Career Center.

Assistant Chief Yunker is a state certified Firefighter 2, Nationally Registered Paramedic, Fire Service Instructor, Live Fire Instructor, EMS Instructor, and Fire Safety Inspector. He also holds certificates as Fire Officer 1, 2 and 3, Incident Safety Officer and CPR Instructor. He currently resides in the Shoreland community with his wife Lisa.
